GETTING
AWAY FROM IT ALL
Thursday, 8th September 2005
No mobile coverage leads to
surge in business for Monmouth restaurant .
As businesses across the UK are now back
in full swing after the holidays, The Crown at Whitebrook,
near Monmouth has reported an increase in customers
using the restaurant for business lunches, meetings
and small conferences - all due to the lack of mobile
phone coverage.
With mobile coverage having not yet reached rural
Monmouthshire, Crown Director Jonathan Davies said
“We originally thought the lack of coverage
may be negative, but have found quite the opposite.
As people increasingly get bombarded by calls and
text messages throughout their working day they
value a venue that allows them to get away from
the distractions and concentrate on the business
in hand.
"We also provide a comprehensive message taking
service so nothing important is missed and with
Chepstow just ten minutes down the road, the customer
is never far from being back in the office or on
the road." |

Located
less than an one hour’s drive time from Cardiff,
Newport, Gloucester and Bristol, the restaurant and lounge
can be hired out and tailored delegate packages offered
to match exact business needs.
Reacting to market demand the Crown are providing niche
corporate and short break packages, in conjunction with
venues such as the Wales Millennium Centre and Millennium
Stadium. A sell out weekend for Irish rugby fans for the
Wales v Ireland in the six nations spurred the hotel to
expand its range of packages.
Jonathan continued: "We were overwhelmed by the response
we received to the offer and we were sold out weeks before
the game. Our aim is to provide something a little different
for those who would rather not stay in a large city centre
hotel - here we can offer a more personal service in a
secluded and peaceful setting, while retaining access
to all the amenities a part of course from mobile coverage!"
Upcoming all-inclusive packages include tickets to the
Wales v New Zealand 100 year come back match at the Millennium
Stadium in November, along with Wales V South Africa and
Australia, racing at Chepstow, Christmas shopping and spa
breaks, to name but a few. |
