April 2007
The Crown at Whitebrook near Monmouth, renowned
for its fine cuisine and impressive wine collections,
has announced a further gourmet evening at its
restaurant on 16 March, 2006.
Building on its reputation for good food by only
sourcing the very best of local produce and preparing
it to the highest standards of French cuisine, the
gourmet evenings give guests a rare opportunity
to sample the very best that The Crown has to offer.
With a limited number of seats per evening, the
events have proved so popular that The Crown is
looking to extend the series as a regular programme
each season, allowing guests to sample the best
of seasonal local produce. |

Diners
are treated to a seven course set menu created by
award winning Head Chef, James Sommerin with a range
of the best wines carefully selected by Sebastian Peak,
of Peak Wines, London, to compliment the food served
to perfection. Each wine is presented course by course
along with a brief synopsis on why it was chosen to
suit each dish.
An innovative and intimate atmosphere is created in
the restaurant by bringing everyone together in a ‘one-table’
dining format, so that guests can eat together and share
experiences, creating a perfect evening of discovery
for those with a gourmet appetite.
Michael Obray, General Manager said: “These evenings
are a rare opportunity to eat the food, and drink the
wine as we see it at its very best. It is critical in
a restaurant that we offer our diners a choice of dishes
and an extensive wine list but great food and drink
is an ongoing learning experience and we want to take
these opportunities to present the very best combinations
using the freshest local ingredients available at the
time of the year.”
Heralded as one of Wales’ most promising restaurants
by critics from The Sunday Times, The Guardian and Dining
Out in Wales, the new gourmet evenings support The Crown’s
commitment to offering the very best in fine dining,
first class accommodation and the finest in hospitality.
All places must be reserved in advance by contacting
The Crown on 01600 860254 or emailing us.
