NEW
DEFINITIVE GRADING SEES CROWN RANK FIVE STARS
Saturday, 4th February 2006
In a move that brings together a united new grading
system from the AA, RAC, VisitBritain, VisitScotland
and the Wales Tourist Board for guest accommodation. The Crown at Whitebrook in Monmouthshire is awarded
the top grading of five stars.
The Crown at Whitebrook near Monmouth is one of
the first in Wales to receive their new grading,
in a move that is aimed to make choosing guest accommodation
easier and clearer for the consumer and easier for
tourism bodies to promote serviced accommodation
at home and overseas.
Already renowned for its fine dining and extensive
wine list, The Crown underwent extensive refurbishment
in 2005 to bring its eight bedrooms to the same
high standard that guests to the restaurant have
come to expect.
All rooms now come with luxury bathrooms, the latest
technology – including access to any TV channel
in the world and a host of personal touches that
Michael Obray, General Manager of the Crown believes
is what makes the accommodation stand out from even
the finest five star hotels. |

| He
said: “From the outset we have wanted to offer
something a little different for guests staying at The
Crown and so we go out of our way to ensure that their
every need is met. From simple touches such as leaving
gifts in the rooms for birthdays and anniversaries through
to organising walking tours, complimentary golf and
horse racing, we do our best to listen to our guests
and provide them with the personal service they require."
“The multiple grading and rating systems for guest
accommodation are often so confusing for the consumer
that we welcome the AA’s new quality standard
for bringing a number of respected organisations together
to produce a clear comprehensive grading system. We
are naturally delighted to have been given the top award
of five stars for the ‘Restaurant with Rooms’
category.”
The AA, RAC, VisitBritain, VisitScotland and the Wales
Tourist Board with support of the government, have worked
together to agree, support and develop these common
standards for assessing the quality of serviced accommodation
in Britain. The requirements for the new system have
been based on existing standards along with extensive
research into the needs and expectations of visitors
plus widely consulting with the hospitality industry.
The new rating confirms the Crown’s aim and commitment
to offering the very best in fine dining, first class
accommodation and the finest in hospitality.
All places must be reserved in advance by contacting
The Crown on 01600 860254 or emailing us.
