David said: “I have heard a great deal about The Crown and in particular the heights of excellence head chef, James Sommerin and his team, have achieved in recent years culminating in the Michelin star in 2007.
“I was excited at the challenging prospect of becoming General Manager and jumped at the chance when offered the position. The Crown has already achieved great things and I believe it has the potential to go even further. I relish the prospect of playing a pivotal role in the future of The Crown.”
Michael Obray joined The Crown in December 2005. He said: “I have enjoyed my time at The Crown immensely, especially building the team and working closely with James in achieving the aspirations and goals we set ourselves, with the pinnacle being the achievement Michelin star in 2007. I will retain very fond memories of The Crown and the team and wish everyone connected with the restaurant, in particular our customers, the very best for the future.”
The Crown at Whitebrook Director, Jonathan Davies, said: “We are thrilled to have been able to appoint someone of David’s stature and background to the key position of General Manager.
“His experience working front of house at Michelin star and Bib Gourmand-Michelin Guide restaurants and hotels stands him in very good stead for the exciting times that lie are ahead at The Crown. Finally we would like to wish Michael every success in his new appointment.”
