of years and is constantly evolving.
It is designed to provide something for everybody,
encompassing a range of countries, styles, and prices.
We are proud to say that in
2006 our wine list was judged as being
one of the top three in the UK by Conde Nast Johansens.
CHAMPAGNE
Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin, Brut NV £49.00
Consistently good. Rich and fruity with a lovely soft mousse.

Gosset Grand Rosé, Brut, NV £90.00
A rosé for the serious champagne lover. Dry elegant, but intense flavours of red fruit,
with just a hint of spiciness. Matured slowly for greater complexity and length.

Dom Pérignon, Vintage 1998 £170.00
Tremendous aromatic intensity, hints of bread dough, tropical fruits & roasted
hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, with crisp acidity and incredibly long on the palate.

Louis Roederer Cristal Brut, Vintage 2000 £215.00
Originally made for the Russian Imperial family, Cristal is an outstanding Champagne with unequalled fruit and length.
WHITE WINE
CHARDONNAY
Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ-Canet, Etienne Sauzet 2003 £125.00
Burgundy (France)
Made from very old vines, which thrived in the fresh conditions of 1999. Aromas
combine citrus peel and white flowers with a hint of vanilla. Smooth flavours
effortlessly layer with impressive ripeness and lead to a long, refined finish.

Paul Cluver Chardonnay 2005, Elgin (South Africa) £22.00
Very rich fruit with distinct toasty oak notes on the nose. Quite a rich
oak-dominated, savoury wine, with great concentration.

Chablis 1er Cru Les Lys, Daniel Defaix 1999, Burgundy (France) £47.50
Daniel Defaix is one of the most traditional growers in Chablis using no oak,
but instead maturing the wine on its lees for two years to produce a remarkable Chablis.

Meursault, Les Meix Chavaux, Guy Roulot 2002, Burgundy (France) £78.00
One of the great names of Meursault. Meix Chavaux is on deep clay soils high above
the village and produces a soft, forward-drinking style. This is a delicious, fleshy
Chardonnay, savoury and nutty, with good definition and fresh, zesty flavours,

Dehesa del Carrizal 2002, La Tierra de Castilla (Spain) £27.00
Not an area well known for wine production, but this winemaker trained under Michel
Rolland and is earning a reputation for quality, long-lived wines.
This barrel-fermented Chardonnay is straw-yellow in colour with tropical and white
fruit aromas. Buttery and toasty on the palate, but dry with a fresh, persistent finish.
PINOT GRIS
Tzigane Pinot Gris 2003, Henri Fuchs, Alsace (France) £24.50
Eco-friendly production helps to produce a wine with great freshness and character.
Honeyed fruit, good weight, an attractive dash of fresh, lemony acidity and just a little spice.

Vinnaioli Jermann Pinot Grigio 2005, Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Italy) £32.50
From a top winemaker in the region, his style is to bring out floral aromas and
concentrated varietal style, with subtlety and elegance. Smooth, dry, and full-bodied
with hints of almond, vanilla and spice on the palate.
SAUVIGNON
Torres Fransola 2004, Penedès (Spain) £31.00
Lightly-oaked Sauvignon with a dash of Paralleda. Jasmine and asparagus on the nose,plenty of fruit and mineral flavours on the palate and a balanced acidity.

Churton, Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Marlborough (New Zealand) £23.00
A typical New Zealand Sauvignon, with all the delicious grassy, nettly, gooseberry
flavours you would expect. A well balancedwine and excellent value for money.

Klein Constantia Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Constantia (South Africa) £25.00
Constantia was formerly part of the Groot Constantia Estate. This superb Sauvignon
is a regular medal winner at the South African National Wine Show.
Dry, fruity and well balanced.

Sauvignon Saint-Bris, Domaine St-Bris 2005, Burgundy (France) £22.00
A newly promoted appellation for Sauvignon, unusually, just outside Chablis.
Lemon and gooseberry aromas combine nicely with well-integrated acidity.
RIESLING
Mitchell Watervale Riesling 2005, Clare Valley (Australia) £19.95
This is an extraordinary wine, to rival Alsace in bringing out the best of this variety.Flavours, of honey and tropical fruit, follow floral notes on the nose. Eco-friendly.

Dr. Burklin-Wolf Estate Riesling QbA 2004, Pfalz (Germany) £24.50
Richly fruited and concentrated, this has flavours of pineapples
and mangoes and an appealing freshness. Full-bodied, dry and complex.
CHENIN BLANC
Vouvray Sec, Domaine Coteau de la Biche 2004, Loire (France) £20.50
A very aromatic nose of apples and pears followed by the same intense flavours
with herby characters and a long crisp finish. A modern and appealing Vouvray.
VIOGNIER
Viognier, The Spice Route Wine Company 2006, Malmesbury (South Africa) £25.00
A forward nose of white flower petals, dried apricots and red apples. Full-bodied
but balanced by a crisp vein of citrus fruit. This wine is full-flavoured and
fruity with a long finish.

Viognier, Domaine La Condamine L’Evêque, £18.00
VdP des Côtes de Thongue 2005, Midi (France)
A simply stunning dry white wine. All the sumptuous peach and apricot flavours
are perfectly captured where so many others seem to fail.
GEWÜRZTRAMINER
Lilly Pilly Tramillon 2005, Riverina region (Australia) £23.00
An absolute rarity. 75% Gewürztraminer gives the wine an exotic fruit character
of lychees and elderflowers. Floral and spicy with a good acidic backbone resulting
in a wine that shows fruit and is off dry with a long finish.

Domaine Bruno Sorg Gewürztraminer 2004, Alsace (France) £25.00
This Domaine is a source of some of finest and richest wines in Alsace. This wine
shows all the floral and lychee characteristics you would expect from
a classic Alsace wine.
SOME PARTICULARLY INTERESTING WHITE WINES
Albariño de Rias Baixas 2006, Lagar de Cervera (Spain) £25.50
This floral, elegant wine from North West Spain is Madrid’s most fashionable white.
Fresh aromatic peach flavours and no oak make this a light easy-drinking tipple.

Bründlmeier Grüner Veltliner, Kamptaler Terrassen 2005, Kamptal (Austria) £27.00
From one of the most highly regarded wineries in Austria this is their classic grape
variety, with aromas of lemon and hints of white pepper. Light, but dry and lively
and bursting with flavour. A very versatile food wine and it’s organic.

Willespie Verdelho 2000, Margaret River (Australia) £29.75
With 6 years bottle age, this wine proves that Australian wines should not always
be drunk young. Think of the Indian Ocean infused with flavours of Charantais
melon, then a long mineral and nutty finish.

Le Soula 2002, Vin de Pays des Coteaux des Fenouillèdes (France) £44.00
A blend of Roussillon, Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache blanc, Chenin blanc
and Rolle/Vermentino, with heaps of minerality. Very rare as this is only made in
tiny quantities. It tastes almost like a cross between a fine Burgundy with a full-bodied
Mosel. Dry and rich and beautifully balanced.
ROSÉ WINES
Sancerre Rosé, André Dezat et Fils 2006, Loire (France) £26.00
A dry, light bodied Rosé made from Pinot Noir, with a classic nose of red berry
fruit. A crisp palate follows, with juicy redcurrant flavours and a long elegant finish.
RED WINE
MERLOT
Don Reca, Viña La Rosa 2005, Cachapoal Valley (Chile) £24.50
From one of the oldest wineries in Chile and made from 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet.
A rich and deeply-coloured wine, aromas of mint and red berries, followed by flavours of
sweet plums, cassis, chocolate and mint. A powerful wine for the money.

Château La Fleur-Pétrus 2001, Pomerol, Bordeaux (France) £140.00
Second wine of the world famous winery, showing similar characteristics of soft plums
matched with firm tannins, allowing the wine to mature. Refined and medium-bodied.

Château Lassegue 1998, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux (France) £45.75
This wine is absolutely delicious. Full round Merlot fruit with sweet mature tannins. A forward style with concentrated blackberry fruit and great for early drinking.

Château L’Enclos 1986, Pomerol, Bordeaux (France) £105.00
Palate is warm and generous, quite savoury with mature tannins.
Fleshy and succulent blackberry fruitiness and a cranberry finis

Château l’Evangile 2001, Pomerol, Bordeaux (France) £208.00
A blend of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc showing a masculine nose of
blackberry leaf, smoke and cedar wood; superb concentration of blueberries, cassis
and violets on the palate. Supple bodied with fabulous acidity and balance.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Leeuwin Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2001, Margaret River (Australia) £55.00
This is an outstanding Cabernet from a leading Western Australian estate. Medium-bodied
with a strong colour and powerful flavours of concentrated blackcurrant and blackberry
fruit with hints of herbs and liquorice, lingering tannins and subtle French oak.

Robert Mondavi Opus One 2000, Napa Valley (California) £225.00
This wine offers aromas of sandalwood, leather, caramel and a hint of anise. Showing
flavours of blackberry and herbs, the wine is harmonious with sweet tannins and a long intense finish. Produced in partnership with the Rothschild Estate. A must for the connoisseur

Amazing Claret-like matured red wine, rich plummy, spicy and full bodied, high
in alcohol. A tribute to dedication of the Hochar family who live in the Bekáa Valley.

Meerlust Rubicon 2001, Stellenbosch (South Africa) £46.50
This is a wonderfully elegant wine with full, ripe black and red berry fruit
flavours and quite similar in style to a claret. The Myburgh family has farmed the estate since 1756.

Château Haut-Brion, 1er Cru Classe 1978, Graves, Bordeaux (France) £150.00
Very rich, dense and harmonious wine. Remarkable balance, a wine full of charm, whose impression of ripe fruit dominates the taste. Very successful wine.

Château Haut-Beauséjour, Cru Bourgeois 1999, £38.50
St. Estephe, Bordeaux (France)
Soft, ruby-red colour and subtle berry aromas. Attractive cherry and blueberry
flavours and a long finish. This is a good vintage for drinking now, from a Château that is performing well.
PINOT NOIR
Mission Hill Pinot Noir 2002, Okanagan Valley (Canada) £29.50
Exceptional aromas of black cherry and spice follow through on the palate, combined
with well integrated oak. Well balanced with a long finish.

Auxey-Duresses, Louis Jadot 2000, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy (France) £37.00
Light and supple, this wine is drinking well now and has penetrating redcurrant
and raspberry flavours with good acidity and a long finish.

Pommard, Domaine Roblet-Monnot 2000, Côte d’Or, Burgundy (France) £49.00
Pascal is a leading figure among the new generation of Côte de Beaune winemakers and also
a perfectionist. Full-flavoured, with plum and berry fruits. It is balanced by strong tannins and acidity, softening now to show game and leather notes. Drinking well now.

This is the next village to Beaune, with similar mid-weight wines.This one is lively and fruity with ripe dark fruits, a hint of vanilla and a light spiced finish.

Côte D’Or, Burgundy (France)
The formula here, is to hand pick, super-ripe grapes yielding sophisticated & sweet fruit flavours. 2001 is a classic, elegant vintage & this is the essence of Gevrey, with opulent fruit, tar & chocolate.
TEMPRANILLO

Vanilla aromas and soft, jammy, strawberry fruit dominate this wine which
has lovely balance and a strong following from the Barcelona Football Club!

The reputable firm of CVNE have fashioned this strawberry and vanilla Rioja
in an expert way. Super smooth and delicious now.

Contino, Vi?a del Olivo 2000, Rioja (Spain) £99.95
This is a very fine single vineyard wine made from mostly Tempranillo, with the ability
to age for many years. Opulent and supple with complex and concentrated flavours.
Mouth filling, with nuances of coffee and tobacco and fine tannins.
GAMAY
Fleurie, Clos de la Chapelle des Bois
Domaine Fernand Verpoix 2005, Burgundy (France) £24.50
The epitome of Beaujolais, fruity, scented and silky. It has a brilliant colour with a
bouquet of soft fruits and a powerful aroma with a long lingering finish. Organic.

Darker and more savoury than other Beaujolais Cru’s and perhaps needing a little
more time to develop. Hearty wine with juicy fruit flavours and a dryish finish.
SYRAH
Mitchell Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz 2004, Clare Valley (Australia) £25.00
This is all that you expect from Australian Shiraz with rich ripe fruit and jammy depth, with
an added dimension of finesse from this excellent small winery and it is environmentally friendly.

A traditional mid-weight Crozes Hermitage with classic vegetal & leather aromas
followed by rich dark, brambly fruit & firm, but well-integrated tannins.

Deep ruby coloured wine offering revealing sweet notes of melted licorice, berries earth and herbs. Medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant and intense.

Two words best define a great wine; concentration and elegance and this wine
has plenty of both. Perfumed nose with pure raspberry fruit, some meaty, spicy complexity, good acidity and structure.
